Prospective Graduate Students

Dr. Simmons is considering applicants to the Law and Psychology Ph.D. program for Fall 2025 admission.  Visit the ASU Law and Psychology website for more information about how to apply.  

  • Prior to submitting an application: Prospective students are encouraged to contact Dr. Simmons by email prior to the December 15th application deadline. Please provide a brief statement of your research interests in the email and attach a CV.

  • Dr. Simmons will not schedule calls, provide feedback, or answer specific questions in advance of reading all applications. 

 

Presidential Graduate Assistantship in Youth Psychology and Law

Dr. Karey O’Hara and Dr. Simmons received two fully-funded Presidential Graduate Assistantships dedicated to advancing equity and research excellence in youth psychology and law. As the primary faculty mentors, Karey and Cortney are committed to mentoring and supporting scholars from diverse backgrounds who wish to explore critical intersections of developmental psychology, child mental health, and the legal system. Prospective students will join the Law and Psychology Ph.D. program, engage in collaborative research embedded in community settings, and contribute to projects highlighting the unique needs of marginalized youth. Graduate assistantships at ASU provide financial support and professional development opportunities. Funding for up to four years is provided, contingent upon satisfactory academic progress.

Prospective Research Assistants

The R2R lab is hiring! Dr. Simmons is looking for highly motivated individuals interested in psychology (developmental and clinical), law, and research. Please submit a Lab Interest Form to help determine whether there is a good mutual fit between your interests and goals and the lab's activities. Dr. Simmons will follow up by email if you are selected for an interview. You may be asked to provide a CV/resume at the interview stage.

  • Important: Research assistants are expected to commit to the lab for one year, work approximately 10 hours per week, and attend the weekly lab meeting (currently scheduled for Wednesday at 1 pm AZ). Undergraduate students can work in the lab for course credit during the semester.
